The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has arrested suspects and launched an investigation into an alleged child trafficking operation involving minors moved across several Nigerian states.

According to NAPTIP spokesperson Vincent Galadima, two suspects were intercepted by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) while travelling from Karu Local Government Area in Nasarawa State and heading toward Edo State.

Authorities said the interception was part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to clamp down on human trafficking and related crimes in the country.

Galadima revealed that preliminary investigations indicate the suspects may have been involved in the movement of more than 20 children. The minors were allegedly trafficked from Adamawa State to different destinations, including Edo State and Lagos State.

Officials believe the case could be linked to a wider trafficking network operating across multiple states, although the full details of the operation are still being examined.

NAPTIP said investigators are working to determine the complete scope of the suspected trafficking activities and to identify other individuals who may have played a role in the operation.

The agency added that further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
