Dremo, a Popular Nigerian Rapper has expressed frustration over what he describes as a lack of recognition for his talent in the music industry.
Speaking in a recent interview with Echo Room, the former Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) signee said he believes his abilities are often overlooked by both fans and industry stakeholders. According to him, many people are unaware of his full creative potential in the studio.
Despite the situation, the rapper said he has embraced the challenge, describing himself as an underdog. He noted that while the lack of appreciation can be discouraging, it also motivates him to keep pushing forward in his career.
Dremo also attributed part of the issue to his musical style, stating that rap music does not receive as much attention in Nigeria compared to more dominant genres such as Afrobeats and pop. He argued that this imbalance has contributed to the limited recognition for rap artists in the country.
Reflecting on his time at DMW, Dremo disclosed that his expectations were not fully met during his stay with the label. He claimed that the management’s focus was largely centered on its founder, Davido, which he believes affected the growth and exposure of other artists under the imprint.
