Fuel pump prices across many filling stations in Abuja have largely remained unchanged about 24 hours after the Dangote Refinery announced a N100 increase in the price of petrol.

The 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery raised its petrol price to N1,175 per litre on Friday, a move that typically triggers retail price adjustments across Nigeria’s fuel market.

However, checks on Saturday morning showed that pump prices at outlets operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in Abuja were still selling petrol at N1,261 per litre, indicating that the price hike had not yet been reflected at many retail stations.

Other marketers, including AA Rano, Ranoil and NIPCO, were also dispensing petrol at prices ranging between N1,230 and N1,330 per litre across different parts of the city and surrounding areas.

Despite the general stability in prices, some stations have already adjusted their rates. One example is Optima Energy, a filling station located near the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission headquarters in Abuja, which increased its pump price by N50 to N1,270 per litre from N1,220.

Meanwhile, petrol supply from stations linked to the Dangote refinery appeared affected. MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations backed by the refinery in parts of Abuja had not dispensed petrol since Friday as of the time this report was filed.

Industry observers say Dangote refinery’s pricing decisions often influence nationwide petrol prices, meaning adjustments may still occur across more retail outlets in the coming days.
