Biodun Oyebanji has been appointed chairman of the Aspirants’ Screening Committee for the forthcoming national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The appointment was confirmed during the inauguration of the committee and other convention-related committees at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
The 42-member committee is responsible for screening and verifying aspirants seeking various elective positions at the APC National Convention, in line with the party’s constitution, guidelines and relevant regulations.
Composition of the Committee
Serving alongside Governor Oyebanji on the committee are several prominent political figures.
Usman Ododo will serve as Co-Chairman, while former Senate President Ken Nnamani was named Vice Chairman.
Former Bauchi State governor Isa Yuguda will act as Secretary, with former Edo State deputy governor Philip Shaibu serving as Assistant Secretary.

Other Committees Inaugurated
During the ceremony, the APC also inaugurated several other committees to oversee different aspects of the national convention.
These include the Screening Appeal Committee, Election Committee, Venue Committee, Security Committee, Election Appeal Committee, Finance Committee, and the Media and Publicity Committee.
Additional committees set up for the convention include the Ceremonial, Programme and Event Committee, Delegates Accreditation Committee, Protocol Committee, Accommodation and Transportation Committee, and the Entertainment and Welfare Committee.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda.
Preparations for APC National Convention
The establishment of the screening committee and other convention structures signals the party’s preparations for its upcoming national convention, where key leadership positions within the ruling party are expected to be contested.
