Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, has sparked reactions after issuing a warning to Yoruba voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a video shared online, the singer urged members of the Yoruba community to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, suggesting there could be spiritual consequences for those who oppose him.
Portable, also known for his hit track “Zazu,” alleged that he has been engaged by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to campaign on behalf of the president. He claimed he had already received campaign materials from the party.
Speaking in the video, the singer emphasized the need for peace in the country, linking it to support for Tinubu’s administration. He warned that voting against the president could lead to unrest, urging voters to make what he described as the “right choice.”
The entertainer went further to invoke traditional beliefs, stating that supernatural forces would punish any Yoruba individual who works against Tinubu’s re-election.
He also hinted at plans to begin grassroots mobilisation, including the distribution of food items such as rice and vegetable oil to supporters as part of his campaign activities.

Portable’s remarks have since drawn mixed reactions on social media, with many Nigerians debating the role of celebrities in political advocacy and the implications of such statements ahead of a crucial election cycle.
