The Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has criticized the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing it of failing in its responsibility to protect Nigerians.

In a statement released on Tuesday through his media office, Amaechi condemned the recent bombing in Maiduguri, describing it as evidence of worsening insecurity under the current government.

The former governor of Rivers State alleged that the administration has been unable to safeguard lives and property, a core obligation and duty of any government. He went further to describe the leadership as lacking the competence required to address security issues and challenges in Nigeria.

Amaechi expressed sympathy to families affected by the attack, but warned that repeated tragedies have become a painful norm. He said Nigerians should not be left to mourn continually while, in his view, authorities fail to take decisive steps to curb violence.

The former minister accused the government of complacency, arguing that the latest incident highlights a leadership he believes is disconnected from the realities faced by ordinary citizens. He also criticized what he described as a lifestyle of excess among those in power, contrasting it with the hardship and insecurity experienced across the country.

Referring to the bombing, Amaechi said the attack represents more than a tragic event, calling it a serious indictment of the government’s approach to national security. He warned that continued inaction could further deepen public frustration and erode trust in leadership.

The incident in Borno State is part of a broader pattern of violence linked to insurgency and banditry, which has persisted in parts of northern Nigeria despite ongoing security efforts.

Amaechi reiterated his call for urgent and decisive action, stressing that the protection of lives remains the most fundamental responsibility of any administration.
