Turkish football commentator and journalist Haluk Yürekli has praised Uğurcan Çakır, describing the Galatasaray goalkeeper as just as valuable to his team as Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
Yürekli made the remarks after Galatasaray secured a victory over Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking on the 343 Digital YouTube channel, the journalist highlighted Çakır’s impressive performance in the match, noting that the goalkeeper’s contribution was as crucial as that of Osimhen.
According to Yürekli, Çakır played a decisive role in Galatasaray’s victory with several key saves that helped the Turkish champions secure the result against Liverpool.
He argued that the club should resist any temptation to sell the 29-year-old goalkeeper, even if a major offer comes from clubs in the English Premier League.
“If I were the decision-maker at Galatasaray, I would not sell Çakır for €50 million, even to an English club,” Yürekli said while discussing the player’s importance to the team.
He also stressed that the goalkeeper’s performance against Liverpool demonstrated his value and leadership at the back for the Turkish side.
Çakır is expected to play another key role when Galatasaray face Liverpool again in the return leg of their Champions League tie next week.
