Nigerian media personality Denrele Edun has responded to a social media user who suggested that he had “resurrected” following the reported departure of controversial crossdresser Bobrisky from Nigeria.
The exchange began after Denrele shared a video of himself on X wearing a red dress. In the post, the television personality reflected on gender expression, saying masculinity once told him to shrink while femininity encouraged him to fly, and that he chose to embrace the latter.
Denrele also used the post to celebrate women in commemoration of International Women’s Day, praising their strength and influence. The video quickly attracted reactions from users on the platform.
One X user, however, made a remark suggesting Denrele had re-emerged because Bobrisky was no longer in the country. The user wrote in pidgin English: “Bobrisky don leave Naija. Old taker don resurrect.”
The comment appeared to imply that Denrele was stepping back into the spotlight now that the popular crossdresser was no longer dominating public attention.
Denrele did not ignore the remark. The media personality responded directly, pushing back against the claim and defending his individuality and long-standing presence in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
